Taps Bathroom

When you need bathroom taps it can be a minefield deciding which type to go for and this is where Taps Bathroom dot com comes to the rescue by explaining all of the various options that are available to you.

First of all it may help to explain the kinds of taps which are generally available and they fall into a small number of categories.

The pillar tap is a traditional design which stands like a pillar with the tap head on the top, it works by screwing the head down which in turn uses a washer to close the water off. These taps come in many different designs with the cross head tap being the traditional style of tap which most people think of. You can usually purchase a number of low cost pillar taps.

Monobloc taps are bathroom taps which suit single tap hole basins, baths and bidets. Both hot and cold supplies connect into the central part and there is usually a hand turn device on either side controlling the hot and cold supplies. These types of tap come in many designs and can be purchased from the relatively low cost right up to the comparatively expensive. If you are going to get a monobloc tap you must firstly make sure that your bath, basin or bidet does actually only have one hole in it.

Deck mixer taps are for baths, basins and bidets which have two tap holes but the water comes out of just one spout. There is a deck which sits on top of the item of sanitary wear and out of that deck comes one spout; there is a tap turn on each side to allow you to adjust just how much hot or cold water comes out of the spout. These come in a wide variety of styles and price ranges so don’t forget to shop around.

Three tap hole mixer taps are for three holed sanitary wear and have three fittings, one is the spout and there is one each for the hot and cold supply, the mixing with these taps is done from underneath. You can get a four hole mixer tap set which has holes for each, hot, cold, the spout and a shower head and you can also get a five hole tap set this is the same as a four hole tap set but the fifth part controls the diverter valve which directs how much hot or cold water comes out.

Kitchen flexible spout mixer taps are a wonderful invention, there is a single spout which receives water mixed as set by the hot and cold tap head but the spout is flexible and extendable, this means you can pull the tap right out to wash around the sink bowl and draining board. The flexible hose can also be fixed in the holder to be used as a normal tap. These types of taps for the kitchen sink are great for pre rinsing plates before placing in a dishwasher. Be aware that these taps are usually for a single hole sink.

Also available are shower mixer taps, these are often thermostatically controlled so that you can set the precise temperature that you require and some can also be set so that they do not go above or below a certain temperature which can stop people from being scolded.
